Tending the Flame - Intro to Bhakti
Join Sadhana and Voices of Bhakti on Sunday, February 22, from 8-9 pm EST for “Tending the Fire”: a virtual evening rooted in love, poetry, voice, and shared presence.
Bhakti is a term that means many different things to different people and communities. Often translated as “devotion”, scholar John Stratton Hawley suggests that we view bhakti as “South Asia’s heart religion”.
Together, we will explore the world of bhakti poetry (devotional poetry from South Asia). We will begin by learning about the history of bhakti poetry and the diversity of bhakti traditions across South Asia and globally. Together, we will closely read and sit with a bhakti poem.
We’ll then share as a community. Related to the theme of “devotion”, you’re invited to bring and share a poem, a song, or a few words offered from the heart. Register here.
Shivratri Meditation
On Sunday, February 15 at 10am, join Sadhana for a virtual guided meditation with Shiva as a container for grief and transformation— making space for personal loss and the suffering of the world. We’ll sit together in quiet reflection, followed by simple community sharing grounded in compassion and shared humanity. Register here.
