Social Distancing & Caste e-Satsangh

Sadhana Satsanghs are our monthly inclusive, egalitarian and earth-honoring worship gatherings.

Due to the ongoing Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, Sadhana feels it is important to nurture both the spirit and the bodies of our members by performing weekly e-Satsanghs every Thursday. To bring our spirits together, we will be performing these Satsanghs via Zoom, an online video-conferencing platform. We invite you to join us in prayer and love during this time of hardship.

Have you been hearing that Hindu customs like "Namaste" or not sharing food are evidence for Hindu wisdom on hygiene? It's true some of these customs are definitely helpful in limiting the spread of Covid-19. But we can't forget that many “social distancing” practices in Hinduism were originally entwined with ideas of “purity” and “untouchability." In this Satsangh, we will discuss Social Distancing and Caste with Sadhana advisory board member Dr. Anantanand Rambachan, professor of religion at St. Olaf College, MN.

Dr. Rambachan will bring us together with kirtan and worship, followed by a pravachana (discourse). We will then open the forum up to allow for questions from all those attending, concluding with shanti mantras (mantras for peace). We look forward to seeing you there!
